The winter blooms of myriad hues and shades at Indira Gandhi Park, the Nehru Park and the Jubilee Park as well as the places of public importance such as garden around the Atal Bihari Vajpayee statue and Rourkela House have created a visual treat for the onlookers.

The mesmerizing view presented by the different shapes, sizes and striking colours of the flowers in the lovingly nurtured and designed flower beds and landscapes are attracting the attention of the nature loving people of the steel city as well as the visitors.

The erstwhile rose garden near the watch tower of IG Park has been developed into a floral intensive area with 200 rose plants of different varieties like Hybrid Tea, Miniature, Polyantha, and Floribunda attaching added glory to the garden. Spread on an area of round 1450 square metres the garden also houses beautifully manicured seasonal flower beds of Cosmos, Holyhawk, Dahlia, Gladioli, Lupin, Seed Dahlia, Salvia, Calendula, Dianthus, Aster, French Marigold, Phlox and Verbena. The buzzing bees and fluttering butterflies are presenting a welcoming vibe to the onlookers and visitors who are thronging the gardens and parks in large numbers to relax and spend quality time with their near and dear ones.

The flowers are the testimony of the hard work and dedication of the Horticulture unit collective who is maintaining these public places and making the steel city a  haven for nature lovers.

The green thumbed residents of the city, on the other hand are complementing the beauty with the diligently nurtured gardens in their homes that are now bedecked with seasonal flowers, as well as perennial blossoms.
