Woman leads dacoits in loot from jewellery shop

Patna, December 7

In the first incident of its kind, a young woman led a gang of dacoits in looting jewelries valued at Rs 1.30 crores from a jewellery shop at Samastipur,135 km north from Patna.

According to the SP, Hridaya Kant, a young woman in jeans and jacket entered the shop at Mohanpur market and asked the staff, Rajiv Jha, to show diamond studded rings .Jha put some rings on the table, but the woman demanded more ornaments for display.

As the table was loaded with diamonds and gold ornaments, woman took out a pistol and signaled her accomplices to get in. About seven youths entered the shop and collected all ornaments in an empty cement  bag. They threatened the owner, Priyadarshi Satyarthi and put him in a corner. They collected all jewelries kept in the chest.

When one of the staff, Ramesh tried to get out of the shop, he was assaulted and shot at. Priyadarshi said dacoits damaged the CCTV and took away DVR box also.

They left the shop on four motor cycles. Eye witnesses said the young woman was seen riding one of the motor cycles.

On Wednesday afternoon, traders at Samastipur protested against the incident and blocked movement of vehicles on Samastipur_ Darbhanga highway. They also stopped the vehicle of additional DG of police on the highway.
