Kathmandu, May 30
A twin-otter of Tara Air that lost contact after taking off from Pokhara Sunday morning has been detected in a wretched condition in Manapathi mountain of Mustang district.
Though the government has not yet confirmed, officials said the security personnel had reached the spot and recovered a few bodies. Besides three crew, 19 people were on board the 9N AET aircraft that took off from Pokhara to Jomsom at 9:55 am on Sunday morning.
The passengers included four Indians identified as Ashok Kumar Tripathi, his wife Vaibhawi Bandekar and their children Dhanush Tripathi, Ritika Tripathi. The family hailed from Thane in Maharashtra.
Sources said a team of around 100 security personnel had camped in Yakkharka after a two-hour walk from Kowang last night. The inclement weather had severely affected the rescue operations. The team today morning reached Manapathi mountain.
The wreckage of the plane was found at Patake Lake Sanosora in Thalang Rural Municipality, ward-2 of Mustang this morning.
