Youths spray bullets in Bihar highways; one killed, several injured

In a firing spree, two motorcycle borne youths created havoc on the highway and opened indiscriminate firing on innocent people in a patch of 30 km between industrial town Barauni and Mokamah Tuesday evening.

In the incident, one person was killed while about a dozen others were injured. They have been admitted to the hospitals, where condition of a couple of youths was reported to be critical. 

According to eye witnesses, two psycho criminals resorted to firings from their motor cycle. They fired from their pistols on pedestrians between Barauni police station, Teghra and Bahchwara police stations. 

Union Minister, Giriraj Singh, who represents Begusarai in Lok Sabha said he would leave for the town on Wednesday morning, meet the injured. He cancelled his engagements in the national capital. Giriraj alleged an attempt at mass killing was made by the criminals. It is evident jungle raj has returned, he commented.

Union minister for forests and environment Ashwini Kumar Chaubey said with RJD in power in Bihar, criminals have a free hand and in Begusarai town, they displayed their gun power on the road. 

Leader of opposition, Vijay Kumar Sinha, alleged the DG of Police did not respond to his call when he tried to inform about the planned massacre. Chief Minister also did not react, he said. 

Rakesh Sinha, Rajya Sabha MP in a statement apprehended 1990-2005 period of Lalu regime has come back. “I had cautioned DM of Begusarai earlier,” he claimed. 

The eye witnesses said they were firing on both sides of the highway and are believed to have escaped to Mokamah across the Ganga.

Preliminary reports received from the district headquarters of Begusaia said they fired twice at Malhipur in Begusarai town, thrice at Barauani thermal power chauk, twice at Teghra and thrice at Bachwara,

They fired first on NH 28 at Adharpur chauk injuring two youths. Another youth received bullet wounds near DPS School Circle.

Police are trying to identify them through CCTV cameras and number plate on the motor cycle. Entire district area has been sealed to locate them.

District SP of Begusarai, Yogendra Kumar said, the criminals resorted to firing first at a local roadside fish market of Malhipur and within ten minutes they hit atleast ten people. An employee of a private finance company received bullet wounds on his stomach, his condition is critical.
