Chhaya Mishra demands central legislation for advocates protection

Patna, April 26

Mrs Chhaya Mishra, Vice President of Advocates Association, the largest and oldest organisation of lawyers in Patna High Court, on Wednesday demanded introduction of a central legislation on protection of advocates.

She talked to Sushil Kumar Modi, Chairman of Standing Committee of Parliament on Law and Justice and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi and sought his help in getting advocates protection legislation introduced and passed by the parliament. She said Rajasthan Government introduced the Advocates Protection Act in March.

Modi said he had taken several steps through the standing committee and recommended ministry to improve infrastructure facilities in courts. He congratulated her for having been elected as vice president of the association which was once headed by the first Rashtrapati, Dr Rajendra Prasad.

He assured he would take appropriate steps on introduction of advocates protection law and asked  her to come up with a delegation with drafts of proposed legislation.
