Amity University to hold 2nd Convocation, 681 students to get degrees

Amity University Chhattisgarh (Raipur), a leading education group of India with its presence in the state spanning over two decades, is organising its 2nd convocation at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Auditorium in the state capital on Friday.

“A total of 681 students will be conferred degrees at the 2nd convocation of the Amity University Chhattisgarh,” Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Piyush Kant Pandey said while addressing media persons here on Wednesday. Among the 681 students, 357 candidates (52.42 percent) are girls while 324 students (47.57 percent) are boys, he added.

As many as 575 students will be conferred undergraduate degrees (UG) and 106 students will be conferred postgraduate degrees (PG) at the convocation. In total, 22 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 05 bronze medals will be awarded to meritorious students, according to the university officials. The University announced that the degree of honorary doctorate (Doctor of Science) – Honoris causa will be conferred on Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) Dr. Himanshu Pathak.

Prof Pandey said one student would be awarded the prestigious Shri Baljit Shastri Award for Best in Human and Traditional Values such as honesty, integrity, respect for others, caring attitude and respect for heritage and culture. Fifteen students will be awarded the Dr Ashok K Chouhan award for completing their degree with 100 per cent scholarship whereas one student will be awarded with an all round trophy for best performance in academics, sports and social service.

Set up with a vision to contribute to nation-building through education, where currently 2,50,000+ students are pursuing 250 programmes across campuses in India and abroad. Amity University Chhattisgarh (Raipur) is yet another landmark project by Amity to revolutionize the Indian higher education sector by providing globally benchmarked, research and employment-oriented education, Prof Pandey said.

Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan will preside over the convocation while Dr Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President Amity University will deliver the convocation address. Dr Aseem K. Chauhan, Chairman, Amity University Chhattisgarh will deliver words of wisdom. Dr W. Selvamurthy, Chancellor, Amity University Chhattisgarh will deliver the opening address. Prof. (Dr.) Colonel Umesh Kumar Mishra, Chairman CGPURC will be present where Prof (Dr) Piyush Kant Pandey will deliver the welcome address with convocation report.

Registrar Dr Suresh Dhyani, Director PR Dr Shivam Arun Patnaik, HOI Amity School of Communication Dr K.N. Kishore and Dy Registrar Exams Mr Ashish Singh were present at the press conference.
