The Chhattisgarh government is going to launch an innovative campaign ‘Hamar Beti-Hamar Maan’ for the safety of women, especially the girls.

The campaign is aimed to protect their honour, their convenience and to provide them essential services. “Daughters are our honour and they are the foundation of the state’s bright future. Those societies are trudging down the path of prosperity where the daughters are safe and are getting empowered,” Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said in a tweet. The campaign has been named ‘Haman Beti-Haman Maan’, meaning ‘Our Daughters-Our Pride”.

Under this campaign, women police officers and personnel would visit the schools and colleges in all the districts and interact with the girls to give them tips. They would be informed about their legal rights, what is bad and good touch, molestation, sexual abuse, cyber-crime and social media crime. The girls would be briefed how to handle critical situations.

A special women patrol would keep an eye on girls’ schools, colleges and prominent places where women and girls visit. A mobile number will also be issued for the ‘Hamar Beti-Hamar Maan’ helpline, on which the daughters will be able to register their complaints, their problems, any misbehavior or crime they have faced. The special cell attending the message would respond to it on priority.

The state government has also decided to deploy women prosecutors for the investigation of crimes related to women. The Inspector General of Police would ensure that the investigation was completed and the charge sheet was filed within stipulated time.

The Chief Minister said that he was optimistic that the campaign would prove to be a revolutionary step in the direction of enhancing women’s safety and dignity.
