Coal India arm to provide two consecutive years scholarship of Rs. 95.50 lakhs

Chief Justice of India N V Ramana handed over cheques to the beneficiaries of “CCL COVID Crisis Scholarship Scheme”, a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Central Coalfields Limited(CCL), at the Justice S B Sinha Memorial Inaugural Lecture function in Judicial Academy, Ranchi.
The Jharkhand-based Coal India arm will provide scholarship of Rs 95.50 lakh for two consecutive years.
CCL COVID Crisis Scholarship scheme for students is an exclusive scholarship scheme for students who have lost either of their parents or primary earning member of the family due to COVID-19 and studying in class-1 to undergraduate courses. These beneficiaries are of eight districts of Jharkhand- Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Chatra, Latehar, Palamu and Bokaro- where mining activities are carrying out by the company to meet energy requirement of the Nation.
Besides the Chief Justice of India, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court cum Patron-in-Chief, NALSA Dr. Ravi Ranjan, High Court of Jharkhand Judge and Executive Chairman, JHALSA Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, High Court of Jharkhand Judge and Judge-in-charge, Judicial Academy Jharkhand Justice S Chandrashekhar, High Court of Jharkhand Judge and Chairman, HCLSC Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Judge of Jharkhand High Court and Chancellor Nominee to executive council, NUSRL Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) P M Prasad and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
CCL under the guidance of Director(Personnel) P V K R Mallikarjuna Rao launched this scholarship, which is aimed to provide financial support to the students belonging to the marginalized sections of the society whose education has been hampered during to COVID-19.
The selected 180 students will receive scholarship in different category ranging from Rs 20000 to Rs 50000 per annum per student to enable them to continue their education.
