NTPC Lara to have carbon neutral look

After construction of Flu Gas to 4G Ethanol, NTPC Lara station located in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district will be the carbon neutral station.

 It was asserted by Akhilesh Singh, the Head of Project at NTPC Lara in a press interaction held on Saturday.

NTPC Lara is the affordable power supplier of Chhattisgarh.  Being a pit head power station, Lara Super Thermal Power Station is supplying power at affordable rates, which plays a vital role to maintain the growth rate of Chhattisgarh as well as other western Indian states. From the operating two units in FY 2023-2024, Lara station generated 11676.2 million units at 83.54 percent plant load factor.

Singh said construction of stage-II 1600 megawatt (800×2) has been started and it is expected to be completed in 4 years. Very soon NTPC Lara station will become the power hub of Chhattisgarh as it provides 50 per cent of generated electricity to home state. Being a developing industry-based state, power demand of Chhattisgarh state is increasing very fast and to maintain the growth rate, electricity is very much essential. NTPC Lara provides half of generated electricity to home state, hence it will be the major source of power supplier for Chhattisgarh. Present generating capacity of Lara station is 1600 megawatt.

After construction of another two units, total installed capacity will be increased to 3200 megawatt and half of this capacity is dedicated for Chhattisgarh only. Stage -I of NTPC Lara is going to be completed very soon. Recently MGR track was dedicated. One more feather is going to be add on its cap, as the Flu Gas to 4G Ethanol plant is going to be constructed here. In this year Lara station has achieved 100 percent ash utilization. Lara station is giving priority to community development.

After 11 years of establishment the result of developmental works starts to be visible. Before NTPC coming to this place, the picture of backwardness was widely visible. But after execution of so many developmental works and activities in the vicinity, these villages have got a new identity. Various developmental activities on education, health, sanitation, infrastructure, and welfare measures starts visible in this area. Across the nation Girl Empowerment Mission conducted by NTPC has become an identity of this company and at Lara it is being successfully completed. Some big ticket works, attributed to NTPC Lara are construction of IIIT Raipur, upgradation of Raigarh Govt. medical college, development of ITI Pussore, upgradation of KIT, Raigarh and CHC Pussore and PHC Chhapora.

Among other dignitaries Rajeev Ranjan, GM (Operation & Maintenance), Ravi Shankar, GM (Project), Kanheya Das, AGM(HR) and HoDs were present on this occasion.
