New Delhi, March 20
The President, Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Union Minister Pashu Pati Kumar Paras, who put down his papers on Tuesday.
Union Minister Pashu Pati Kumar Paras resigned on March 19 and accused the BJP of doing “injustice” with his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party by not including it in the seat-sharing deal with allies for the Lok Sabha election in Bihar.
The announcement came at a press conference a day after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance announced its seat-sharing pact and gave five seats to Mr. Paras’s nephew Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
“The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Shri Pashu Pati Kumar Paras from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution,” a communication from the Rashtrapati Bhawan said.
Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that Kiren Rijiju, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in addition to his existing portfolio.
