Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Maharatna Company Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), posted brilliant overall performance in various key areas in the first three quarters (Q3) of financial year 2022-23 ended December 31, 2022.
The Steel Plant produced highest ever 3224816 tonnes of Hot Metal, 3025394 tonnes of Crude Steel and 2805914 tonnes of Saleable Steel in the first 9 months of the current financial year to clock the Best ever performance in the respective areas. With an all time high production of 5334380 tonnes of sinter during Q3 of the current fiscal, the Sinter Plants complemented the success story.
The average Oven Pushing from Coke Oven Battery-6 also witnessed the best ever figure of 90.1 during the period. The gross dispatch of the Steel Plant on the other hand excelled in tandem with production. RSP dispatched 2805902 tonnes of Saleable Steel to clock the best ever figure in the first eight months since inception. The earlier best April- December performance in all these key areas were achieved in the previous financial year.
It was a remarkable year for many units of the Steel Plant which touched new milestones. The Steel Melting Shop-II surpassed the historic landmark of 50 Million Tonne Crude Steel Production on 30th December, 2022. The Hot Strip Mill-2 clocked the best single day production on 28th December, 2022. The State-of-the-art Mill rolled 197761 tonnes of HR Coils to register its Best December performance.
Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP in his New Year message to the collective while applauding the efforts has urged them to further step up efforts to meet emerging challenges and remain competitive in the evolving market scenario.
