MoU with National Culture Fund and ASI for restoration and development of Mahadev temple complex at Deobaloda

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), National Culture Fund (NCF) under Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Tuesday at New Delhi for restoration and development of the heritage Mahadev Temple site situated at Deobaloda village, near Bhilai Steel Plant.
Declared as a protected monument, the Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was constructed by the Kalachuri dynasty in the 14th Century. The pillars and exterior of the temple bears decorative bands with images of deities.
Protection, restoration and development of the heritage sites being one of the focus areas of CSR initiatives of SAIL, this heritage site was identified by SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) for development through ASI. The entire project will not only help restore the complex, it will also attract more tourists to the region.
Officials of Bhilai Steel Plant’s CSR department have visited the temple several times and interacted with ASI officials to discuss restoration work. During her last visit to Bhilai, SAIL Chairman Smt Soma Mondal too had visited the temple in Deobaloda village.
Other development activities of ASI at Deobaloda temple complex such as parking area, cloak rooms, drinking water arrangement etc will also be supported by SAIL-BSP under its CSR programme.
The MoU was signed by Arvind Kumar, Member Secretary, NCF, Janwaji Sharma, ADG, Conservation, ASI and S V Nandanwar, CGM (Town Services & CSR) BSP in presence of K K Singh, Director (Personnel) SAIL, Ms Sanjukta Mudgal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Jitendra Kumar, CGM (Personnel) SAIL, Shivrajan, GM (CSR) BSP, Dr Monica Choudhary, Senior Manager, NCF and other senior officials of NCF and ASI.
