Raipur, April 16
In a major push toward modernization and regional connectivity, the Raipur Railway Division has announced that passenger amenities worth over Rs100 crore are currently being executed across the division. Dayanand, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Raipur, shared these updates during an Ambedkar Jayanti program organized by the Railway Employees Union at BMY Charoda.
The DRM highlighted two critical rail projects that are expected to be completed within the next 18 months, significantly altering the logistics landscape of Chhattisgarh. These rail lines will be laid between Rao Ghat to Jagdalpur and Kharsia to Parmalkasa.
Furthermore, a newly sanctioned Railway Corridor Project is set to establish a massive transit network connecting Chhattisgarh with Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and the Surat Port. This corridor is expected to transform the division into a central hub for interstate trade and maritime logistics.
Under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which focuses on the long-term redevelopment of railway stations, DRM Dayanand stated that work on three railway stations in the division has been completed, and work on the remaining stations is progressing rapidly, with completion expected by next June.
The Rs 100 crore investment “on the floor” is specifically earmarked for enhancing the daily experience of travelers. These amenities typically include modernized waiting halls, improved platform surfaces, better lighting, and upgraded sanitation facilities.
”Our goal is to ensure that rail passengers in this region are blessed with world-class amenities soon,” DRM Dayanand stated during his media interaction, emphasizing that the infrastructure push is aligned with the broader national vision for a modernized Indian Railways.
