Another Prayagraj shootout accused killed in encounter

The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday gunned down the man who fired the first shot at Umesh Pal in the sensational Prayagraj shootout.

In the incident that took place in the broad daylight, Umesh Pal, the key witness in the 2005 former BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case was shot on February 24 outside his home in the Dhoomanganj area. Pal died on the same day while and his police security guards Sandeep Nishad and Raghvendra Singh succumbed to their bullet injuries later during treatment.

Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman, an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, was shot dead in the Kaundhiyara police station area around 5.30 am, Dhumanganj Station House Officer (SHO) Rajesh Kumar Maurya said on Monday. He was the one who fired the first shot at Umesh Pal.

The encounter took place between Gothi and Belwa in Kaundhiyara police station area.

Usman suffered bullet injuries in his neck, chest and thigh, the police said.

A constable, Narendra Pal, was also injured in Monday’s encounter. He suffered injuries to his hand and has been admitted to the Community Health Centre in Kaundhiyara.

Usman is the second shooter in the case killed in the encounter with the police. Earlier on February 27, the Special Operations Group of the Uttar Pradesh Police and the district police gunned down Arbaz, at Nehru Park.
