NTPC Lara gets green award for third consecutive year

NTPC Lara station has been awarded the “Diamond award” for its efforts taken for preservation of the environment by Apex India Foundation.

In the environmental preservation category by thermal power stations, NTPC Lara is the only station to receive this award since the last three consecutive years. It is to mention that NTPC Lara station is laced with environment friendly super critical technology.

Its efficiency is 40.5 per cent from other subcritical plants. Due to high efficiency this plant requires less coal for electricity production. With less coal consumption this plant generates less greenhouse gases in comparison to traditional plants. Besides new technology, NTPC Lara takes various measures for the preservation of the environment.

Afforestation with Miyawaki technology has been implemented inside Maitree Nagar township and open areas of surrounding villages. Water conservation and development of water bodies are taken care of by various developmental activities.

The trophy and citation were handed over to Akhilesh Singh, HOP (Lara) in the presence of Rajeev Ranjan, GM (O&M), S K Sinha, AGM (Operation), Sudhir Dahiya, AGM (EMG) and Jakir Khan, AGM (HR).
