Bhilai Steel Plant registers handsome growth in April-November period

Maintaining the upward trend in production in current fiscal year, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has registered all round growth in all major parameters of performance in the first eight months from April to Nov 23.

From oven pushing to sinter and hot metal production, crude steel and saleable steel production to loading of both long and flat products for despatch, the Plant has registered handsome growth figures in the April to Nov 23 period of current fiscal year over corresponding period last year.

A 16 per cent growth has been registered in oven pushing rate with 782 oven per day recorded during April to Nov 2023 period as compared to rate of 674 in corresponding period of last fiscal year i.e. from April to Nov 2022.

The Plant registered a growth of 9 per cent in sinter production with 56,87,000 T recorded in April to Nov 2023 period as compared to 52,27,000 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year. The Plant registered a growth of 15 per cent in production of hot metal with blast furnaces producing 38,93,000 T hot metal in April to Nov 2023 period as compared to 33,86,000 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year.

In crude steel production, the Plant registered a growth of 14 per cent with steel melting shops producing 36,88,000 T crude steel in April to Nov 2023 period as compared to 32,32,000 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year. The Plant also registered a growth of 15 per cent in saleable steel production with 34,35,000 T recorded in April to Nov 2023 period as compared to 29,93,000 T in corresponding period of last fiscal i.e. from April to Nov 2022.

As regards loading of both long and flat steel for despatch, growth of 15.7 per cent has been registered with 34,26,040 T of steel loaded in April to Nov 2023 period as compared to 29,61,520 T loaded during April to Nov 2022. It includes growth of 19.2 per cent registered with loading of 25,69,020 T of long products for despatch during April to Nov 2023 as compared to 21,54,975 T loaded in corresponding period of last fiscal year, and growth of 6.3 per cent registered with loading of 8,57,020 T of flat products April to Nov 2023 as compared to loading of 8,06,545 T loaded during April to Nov 2022.
