Bihar cabinet expanded on the eve of ECI announcement of elections

Patna, March 15

Jai Sri Ram slogans reverberated in the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhawan where 21 new ministers took oath a day before the expected announcement of schedule of the Lok Sabha election.

Bihar Governor Rajendra V Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to 12 legislators from BJP quota and nine from the JDU quota. Nitish Mishra, son of former chief minister, Jagannath Mishra and BJP legislature party leader in Vidhan Parishad Hari Sahni took oath in Maithili.

Except for Maheshwar Hazari, all nine ministers from JDU are old hands. With the induction of former Deputy CM Renu Devi, there are three women in the cabinet. Now, Nitish cabinet is dominated by the legislators from OBC,EBC and dalit communities.

Zama Khan of JDU is the only Muslim in the cabinet.
