Chhattisgarh: Officer among three security personnel killed in Maoist ambush

Jagdalpur, February 25

An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Police was among the three security personnel killed in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s restive Sukma district on Saturday morning.

According to sources, a team of Chhattisgarh police and District Reserve Guard (DRG) marched from Jagargunda in the morning for a routine patrol as part of anti-Maoist operations in the area. At around 9 am, the troop got trapped in the ambush laid by the Maoists near Kunded village.

A fierce gunbattle followed and the security personnel gave befitting reply to the rebels. In the encounter, three security personnel including an officer were martyred. They were identified as ASI Ramuram Nag, Assistant Constable Kunjam Joga and Sainik Vanjam Bheema.

Soon after getting information, reinforcements was sent from Dantewada and Sukma. The security forces have launched a search operation in the area.
