Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday dropped a big hint about her retirement from politics at an emotional address delivered at the 8th Congress Plenary Session underway in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Addressing the three-day All India Congress Committee (AICC) meet on the second day on Saturday, Sonia said that she was happy that her innings could conclude with the conclusion of Bharat Jodo Yatra. The former Congress President said now the party had to take care of the new leadership. “She is now taking political leave,” Sonia Gandhi hinted at retirement from politics.

She said she was happy that her “innings is coming to an end with the Bharat Jodo Yatra”. Sonia described the Bharat Jodo Yatra as an important turning point for the party and the Plenary Session is being held right after the march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. She added that political analysts had described the Yatra as successful and Rahul had tried to reconnect the party with Congress workers and voters.

Through the Yatra, the party has been successful in giving a message against the Hindutva agenda of BJP-RSS, she added.
