Coromandel express collides with goods train in Odisha, heavy casualty feared

Bhubaneswar, June 2

The Chennai-bound Coromandel express train collided with a goods train in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday evening in which many casualties has been feared.

The accident was reported from near Bahanaga station in Balasore. According to eye witnesses, many bogies of the ill-fated train that started from Shalimar skidded off the track.

Though the railway officials have not come out with any statement, a heavy casualty has been feared as eyewitnesses said many bodies could be seen on the spot.

The rescue operations have been launched and the injured are being shifted to Balasore hospital.

Meanwhile the Special Relief Commissioner’s office in odisha stated, “Teams have left for the spot for search and rescue operation. Collector, Balasore has also been directed to reach the spot to make all necessary arrangements and intimate the SRC if any additional help is required from the state level.”

The SRC’s office released an emergency control room number, 6782262286 for information and help relating to the mishap.
