The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday found a fresh stock of huge cash in another flat of Arpita Mukherjee, a close associate of West Bengal Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee who was arrested in connection with the school recruitment scam.

Reports said that on Wednesday night, ED recovered another lot of huge cash of Rs 30 crore from Arpita’s another flat located in Belghoria. With the fresh seizure, the cash recovered from Partha Chatterjee’s aide had reached over Rs 50 crore. Earlier, the central agency had unearthed unaccounted cash worth over Rs 21 crore from her flat in south Kolkata.

Besides, 3 kg gold was also recovered from her two flats in Belghoria’s Rathtala locality that ED officials had to break open as the keys were not available.

Several vital documents were also found in the flats during a search. The investigating agency suspect that the cash was related to the multi-crore teachers appointed scam in which Partha Chatterjee had been indicted.

Chatterjee, who was arrested in connection with an alleged school jobs scam on Saturday, was admitted to state-run SSKM hospital soon after ED apprehended him after 24 hours of questioning. The ED moved the Calcutta High Court on Sunday challenging the lower court order of sending arrested minister to the state-run SSKM hospital.

The central agency contested that the lower court can direct adequate treatment of a person but cannot specify a particular facility. The High Court on Sunday directed the EDto take to AIIMS Bhubaneswar early on Monday by air ambulance. The AIIMS doctors declared he was fit and did not required hospitalisation.

The ED today conducted raids in other places also even as new developments related to the case are unfolding.
