NCL achieves mega feat of 100 million tonnes of coal dispatch

Northern Coalfields Limited, the Singrauli-based Miniratna company of the Government of India has achieved a mega feat of 100 Million Tonne coal dispatch on the penultimate day of 2022.

The company is ending a fabulous year with a glorious ending.
 
This feat assumes significance considering the dependency of the Indian economy on coal and the steep rise in coal demand amid ongoing winter and global economic disruption. This spectacular achievement of 100.05 Million Tonnes of Coal Dispatch comes with 9 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) growth. Also, The company is ensuring sufficient coal supply to the powerhouses and has supplied more than 90 Million Tonnes of coal to the GENCOS till date i.e. more than 90 per cent of total coal dispatched to coal consumers.

On this stellar performance, CMD NCL reiterated the company’s commitment towards strong augmentation in production, offtake, and Overburden Removal in the period ahead. He also said that the achievement of this mega feat is the fruit of fatigue of company miners.
 
In the Current Fiscal, NCL has produced 96.89 Million Tonnes of Coal with a splendid growth of 12.66% till date. NCL operates from all opencast mines hence it becomes important to remove the material above coal layers (Overburden) for coal production in the long run. NCL has been targeted with a whooping 410 Million Cubic Meter Over Burden Removal in FY 2022-23.

The company is marching ahead with 26 per cent y-o-y growth in OBR and has removed 326.10 Million Cubic Meter OBR till Date. NCL is setting up its benchmarks high in daily OBR and has scripted history multiple times by removing the record Over Burden in a single day during November and December. The latest feat was accomplished yesterday when NCL removed 14.88 Lakh Cubic Meter Over Burden in One Day. It is needless to mention here that NCL is the biggest volume-handling (Coal + Over Burden) company of the nation.

NCL is continuously developing its infrastructure to boost coal production and dispatch in the wake of increasing targets, NCL is eyeing Rs 1900 Crore capital expenditure in FY 2022-23 and has spent more than Rs 1500 Crore till last month. The company is also working on 9 First Mile Connectivity Projects to boost eco-friendly coal dispatch through Rail Mode directly from its mines.
 
NCL has been entrusted with the Coal Production and dispatch targets of 122 Million Tonnes in the current fiscal, the company is gearing up to beat them much ahead of scheduled dates.

NCL is one of the flagship subsidiaries of Coal India Limited, known for its 10 Highly Mechanized mines located in the Singrauli and Sonbhadra districts of MP and UP states respectively.
