NMDC starts fiscal with positive note, targets 50 MT output

National mining major NMDC Limited has produced 3.48 million tonnes (MT) and sold 3.53 MT of iron ore in the first month of financial year 2024-25 (FY25), beginning the new fiscal with a promising start.

On the back of record 45 MT volumes in FY24, NMDC’s strong performance continued. While production matched upto to the corresponding period last year, the company achieved close to 3 per cent growth in sales from April 2023.

NMDC’s Kirandul and Donimalai iron ore mining complexes delivered their best ever April month production, with 13.59 LT and 11.33 LT respectively. Production volumes were up by 7 per cent in Kirandul and 12 per cent in Donimalai over CPLY. The company’s Bacheli Complex dispatched 14.86 LT in April 2024, which is 12 per cent more than April 2023 and its highest ever April month dispatch since inception.

Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge), expressed confidence in NMDC’s caliber to meet the country’s appetite for iron and steel. He said, “We are targeting north of 10% growth in our volumes in FY25 attuned to the growth trajectory of India’s iron ore output and demand. All our mining complexes have delivered a promising start and are geared up to harmonize with the new mining technologies, navigate sectoral challenges, and achieve 50 MT.”
