Tata Steel Iron Ore Mines in Jharkhand bag 10 awards at MEMC final day event

Noamundi Iron Mine declared winner in Overall Performance category in A-1 group of mine

Tata Steel’s Noamundi Iron Mine and Vijaya-II Iron Mine in Jharkhand have won 10 awards at the 30th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) week, 2022-23 final day event, organised under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Ranchi region in Ranchi on Saturday.

Noamundi Iron Mine was declared winner in Overall Performance category in A-1 group of mines. Similarly, the mine was adjudged winner in three other categories- Mineral Conservation, Mineral Beneficiation and Sustainable Development in the same group.

Besides, runner-up awards in Afforestation, and Reclamation & Rehabilitation segments  under A-1 group were handed over to Noamundi Iron Mine.

Similarly, Vijaya-II Iron Mine was declared winner in Systematic and Scientific Mining and, runner-up in two categories- Waste Dump Management and Publicity and Propaganda in A-1 group.

Tata Steel won 1st prize in stall display which was put up on the occasion to showcase its commitment towards  conservation of mines and environment.

Officials of Tata Steel received the awards from Shailendra Kumar, Controller of Mines, Eastern Zone, IBM who graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

A total of 75 awards were given away under various categories during the event in which 31 mines across the state had participated.

Among others present on the occasion were Salil Sandip Kujur, Regional Controller of Mines, Ranchi Region, IBM, Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Director, Hindustan Copper Limited, Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager (OMQ), Tata Steel, Kamal Bhaskar, Chief General Manager (CGM), Gua Iron Mine, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Kamlesh Rai, CGM, Kiriburu Iron Mine, SAIL, RR Ambastha, General Manager, Hindalco, Basudev Gangopadhyay, General Manager, Hindalco, D Vijayendra, Chief, Noamundi Iron Mine, Tata Steel and officials and representatives from various mines across the state.
