Chhattisgarh actively participating to promote legal education: CJI N V Ramana

Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana said Chhattisgarh was taking all necessary measures including making budgetary provision and building infrastructure for the judicial community.

He hoped that if the trend would continue, Chhattisgarh would emerge as a leading state in providing the best infrastructure to the Judiciary. The CJI congratulated Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for actively supporting the development of legal education in the state and providing good governance.

The Chief Justice of India expressed the views while addressing the fifth convocation ceremony of the Hidayatullah National Law University in Raipur on Sunday.

Justice N V Ramana told the students that they should have a vision and passion to achieve it. He added that the students were precious to the country and the talented minds needed to be taken in the right direction. Appreciating the Hidayatullah National Law University, he said that it had been named after a great jurist who dedicated his entire life for the cause of law.

Congratulating the students in the convocation ceremony for the feat, the Chief Justice of India said that knowledge and information were the greatest wealth and had to develop it only by using them properly.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended the convocation ceremony as special guest.

On the occasion of the fifth convocation ceremony of the Hidayatullah National Law University, two researchers were awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Apart from this, a total of 23 female students were honored with 66 gold medals. Ankit Pal of the 2020 batch with 6 gold medals and Pallavi Mishra of the year 2021 batch with 11 gold medals were the overall toppers.

The convocation ceremony was presided over by the Supreme Court Judge Justice S Abdul Nazeer. Supreme Court Judge Justice B V Nagaratna was also present at the convocation.

Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University Arup Kumar Goswami and Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court Prashant Mishra were also present on this occasion.
