Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the boiler accident at the Vedanta Power Plant at Singhitari in Sakti district and announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

He said the state government stood firmly with the affected families. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure immediate relief and free, proper treatment for all the injured. He warned that any negligence will not be tolerated.

Terming the incident extremely tragic, the Chief Minister conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also expressed deep grief over the tragic mishap at a power plant in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh.

The Prime Minister extended his condolences to those who have lost their loved ones and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He also noted that the local administration is assisting those affected.

The Prime Minister announced that an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.
