Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday warned the Maoists that they would face severe consequences if failed to lay down the arms.

“If you make (Narendra) Modi ji Prime Minister for a third term we will uproot and throw away Naxalism in two years. Today, I say to those (Naxals) remaining, surrender or the fight’s outcome is certain. We will end Naxalism,” he said while addressing an election meeting in Kanker—a part of the district is infested by the Left-Wing Extremism. The Narendra Modi government has eliminated terrorism from the country, he said.

The statement came days after security forces killed 29 Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker that has raised the morale of jawans combating the red army in Chhattisgarh jungles. Kanker Lok Sabha constituency will go to the polls on April 26 in the second phase along with Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund.

Shah said: “Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took no action against Naxalism. But within four months of Vishnu Deo Sai becoming Chief Minister and Vijay Sharma Home Minister… The BJP government has killed 90 Naxals, arrested 123 and another 250 surrendered.”

“Till Naxalism is here, tribal brothers and sisters will not be able to live in peace and get roads, electricity, gas, education, jobs medical treatment or food. You people tell them (Maoists) to surrender. Don’t worry if they do not surrender, we will uproot the Naxals from the face of Chhattisgarh,” the Union Home Minister added.
